Spot

To understand Spot's background, you have to go read the story of her mother, Dusty the Ducati Cat. That's a cool story.

Spot is pure white most of the time. We call that her winter coat. Sometimes she gets a few black hairs on the top of her head (her summer coat) to remind us of the three little black spots that she once wore and which gave her her name. Now, it seems silly to call a pure white cat "Spot." It's like calling a black cat "Snowball" or a white one "Midnight." Of course, to me those are both great ideas.

Spot is the quietest of the three "kittens," sort of like that smart girl in math class that never raised her hand but always knew the answer. She has the same soft fur as her sister, and the same golden eyes.

Recently, Spot cost us some huge vet bills because she suddenly started losing weight, stopped eating, drank only sips of water, and had no energy. Our son, Andrew, reported that he had pulled some string out of her throat (!) and some had broken off. So, we assumed her digestive system was plugged up by string (apparently common in cats; see Cynder's page) or maybe her throat had been injured.

So, off to the vet she went. X-Rays showed a blob of string blocking her intestines, and surgery was scheduled. But when they did the surgery, no string was found! It reminds us of President Bush invading Iraq due to evidence of weapons of mass destruction, and dealing with the (at this writing) lack of any weapons having been found. All those bucks spent on surgery, and no string! Well, she got her health, appetite, and energy back, so we can't complain.
